Tomorrow We Will Gather to Celebrate Being Better Together
The Crown Heights community is b”H blessed with an abundance of chessed opportunities and communal gatherings. Sometimes it feels overwhelming how often we are asked to show up for each other. Yet, with Hashem’s help, we continue to do so, as often as needed! Because we know that we, as a family, as a community, as a nation, can only survive and thrive when we work together.
Outsiders and visitors often comment on the remarkable energy that emanates from Crown Heights, always buzzing with activity and innovation. Never a dull moment, as they say. Well that extends to the good times, and the ch”v, not such good times. While everyone witnessed the loud and beautiful talents on display at the Great Parade last week, there is an equal outpouring of energy and generosity dedicated to helping people in the community who struggle with a critical illness, all happening behind the scenes. While no one can miss the grand takeover of the neighborhood during simchas bais hashoeva each year, where the entire community takes to the streets in joy and jubilation, these same revelers are the ones who wouldn’t miss the chance to quietly use their talents and resources to bring joy and reprieve to the patients who need it most.
With the help of Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights, we can proudly say that we are there for our neighbors, our community, our brothers and sisters during a medical crisis. Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights, a fully volunteer organization, stands as a beacon of support, ensuring no one faces these challenges alone.
Tomorrow, on Sunday, June 2nd, 25 Iyar, Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights will host its annual Women’s Breakfast and Auction to acknowledge and thank their devoted volunteers and the silent heroes of the community. The event also offers the community an opportunity to contribute to Bikur Cholim’s vital work.

With an incredible array of prizes waiting to be won, and a powerful lineup of speakers, including Amanda Spiro, a cancer warrior and survivor, interviewed by Eda Schottenstein and Rivkah Krinsky, hosts of the popular podcaster From the Inside Out; Shani Bennish will share her inspirational personal experience with Bikur Cholim,. The breakfast will be chaired by Rosie Levertov, who brings her infectious joy and energy wherever she goes. And Bikur Cholim Service Coordinator Rochie Korolitzky will present awards to four outstanding individuals, whose discreet but life-changing chessed deserves our infinite gratitude. This event is not to be missed!
Every single day, Bikur Cholim remains committed to assisting families throughout the community. Each phone call, every meal provided, every ride to the hospital and every medical expense covered is a testament to the transformative power of compassion and kindness.
