by CrownHeights.info
It was the coldest night of the year, and one Jewish family was having a difficult time.
Earlier on in the night, residents of a home on Carroll Street called 911 after their lights began flickering, bringing concern that salt and snow may have damaged the underground electrical system outside their house.
They weren’t wrong.
Soon after reporting the flickering light, an explosion from a manhole outside their home brought emergency responders rushing to the area, with Con-Ed arriving within minutes to assess the damage.
One Jewish families night was not to get any easier.
Firefighters who responded to the explosion discovered high Carbon Monoxide levels inside their basement, a dangerous situation which could lead to a fatal outcome.
