This Coming Sunday, A Very Important Town Hall Meeting Which Will Affect Crown Heights

by Menachem Mahpour

This coming Sunday there will be a very important Town Hall Meeting with Assemblyman Brian Cunningham on the very important issue that will be affecting our entire community.

The “Vital One”‘ project which is a massive development consisting of 11 buildings each 12 stories high being built right here in Crown Heights (Winthrop, Rutland, Schenectady) is being funded by NYstate, this is a project that if goes as planned will change the whole landscape of East Flatbush and Crown Heights forever.

The current proposed plan has 11 buildings of 12 stories higher than the current zoning allows, which would be adding over 2,000 units to the already crowded area, most of which will be for homeless, supportive housing, and low income residents.

This will destroy our neighborhood, and bring with it more crime, more congestion, more drugs, less parking, less safety and less quality of life for the entire Jewish community living in Crown Heights and East Flatbush.

The entire community is being urged to come out on Sunday and express our concern to Assemblyman Brian Cunningham if we care about the Shchuna for ourselves and our children’s wellbeing.

This will affect everyone even if you don’t live in South Crown Heights or East Flatbush.
