Workshop At Oholei Torah Mesivta Teaches Proper Placement of Tefillin Shel Rosh

A tefillin workshop was given by Harav Tzvi Schmalberg at The Oholei Torah Mesivta on Rosh Chodesh Tamuz התשפ”ג.

The bachurim learned the correct place to put tefillin on the head as stated in שו”ע סימן כז סעיף ט
Which says the tefillin must be placed on the head starting from where the roots of the hair grow until מקום שמוחו של תינוק רופס.

(The knot in the back of the tefillin should be on the bone at the end of the skull (meaning the top of the neck). The top of the dales should be on the bone, and the leg should be in the indent underneath).

And the ט”ז explains in סעיף קטן י , that the entirety (100%) of the בית must be where there is hair, not that some of the tefillin is above the roots of hair and the restof the tefillin is below on the forehead (this is learned from a גזירה שוה,
לא תשימו קרחה בין עיניכם למת , והיו לטטפת בין עיניך that the entire box of the tefillin (this includes the sides of the bayis as well, (not just the middle) for those people whose hairlines are not even) must be where it’s possible to make a קרחה bald spot.

The halachik hairline, is how the hairline was, when the male turned 13 years old.

The bachurim learned and practiced as well, in a hands on workshop, how to adjust the straps of the תפילין של ראש to make it smaller or larger.
