Lubavitch of Remsen Village Closes On Their New Building

by CrownHeights.info

Lubavitch of Remsen Village, which moved into their new building in September of last year, officially closed on their building, signing the deal and stamping another with Jewish educational organization.

The closing, which took place Friday afternoon, completed a deal which began last year as the Remsen Village Shul moved into the building at 305 Remsen Ave.

The three way deal included the sale of the building to Lubavitch of Remsen Village and gave rights to the first floor to the educational organization, a massive education organization that provides schooling for preschool children and other services for the Jewish community.

As for the Shul, they will be taking up residence in the building’s basement for the foreseeable future, where the shul and upcoming Mikvah will be.

According to a person familiar with the plans, the shul is not planning on staying in the basement forever, with the eye or expanding upwards and adding floors to the existing building.

The communities of Remsen Village and East Flatbush have exploded in recent years, with new arrivals moving in every month. The shul’s previous location, in a basement at 270 East 91st St., was bursting out of its seams, unable to contain the many new arrivals.

With much sayata d’Shmaya, the community had signed a contract to purchase the spacious new grounds at 305 Remsen Ave, working with the building’s previous owner to gather the large amount of funds still needed to buy the building.

Now, almost a year later, the funds were raised, agreements signed, and the shul officially closed.
