Say Hello, CitiBike Has Arrived On Kingston and Albany Aves

by CrownHeights.info

Update: CrownHeights.info has been informed that a CitiBike rack is also being installed at the corner of Empire Blvd and New York Ave, Utica and Carroll, and Montgomery and Kingston.

Just in time for the International Kinus Hashlucos 5783, CitiBike racks has arrived on Kingston and Albany Aves in Crown Heights.

“I understand the need for some bikes,” a resident told CrownHeights.info, “but I don’t believe that its in our best interests. We have families here.”

The two new CitiBike racks are being installed on Kingston Ave near the intersection of Carroll Street and on Albany Ave between Carroll Street and President Street.

The installation of the racks is hardly a surprise, as the location of over 20 planned CitiBike locations have been published on the CitiBike online map for a period of time. Still residents have a mixed view of their arrival.

In a survey done by CrownHeights.info with hundreds of submissions, the data shows that 55.7% of people feel that the CitiBike arrival is NOT a good thing. This is in comparison to 26.9% that feel they are a good thing, and 17.4% that are indifferent.

The reason for the large negative feelings towards the bike racks is readily apparent.

“We have families over here,” a Crown Heights resident explained. “If we were living in a single’s neighborhood or a place with smaller families, fine. Are we supposed to take our children to school on a bicycle?”

The issues surrounding the bicycles appears to be less the bicycles themselves and more the fact that they are taking up coveted parking in a community that already has a shortage. With the addition of each new bike rack, as few as two, and as many as five street parking spots may be lost.

Others in the community have lauded the arrival of the new bike racks, pointing out the increased mobility and new method of cheap transportation that they provide to the community.

Whichever side you may be on, you are going to have to adapt, as those CitiBike racks appear like they are here to stay.

Seruiously our coummunity council really dropped the ball on this one. They may not have even known about it. Unaceptable. Losing dozens of parking spots in an area that has very difficult to find parking as it is is a community problem. It’s up to the ELECTED coomunity officials to stop this from happening. Where were they? Taking pictures with Goverment officials…. fressing in the sukka

The CB is selected by the Borough President and the City Councilmember for that particular area.

So the CB, Councilmember and the BP know EXACTLY when and where those racks are being placed.

      Vote them out

  • Is there any way to stop this craziness

This is insane is there anyway we can revoke this messed up situation as well as their sick plan to put up numerous 5g links here

I believe the City Council Member for this area is Crystal Hudson.

City Council Elections are this year. You don’t have to vote Republican but the Democrats make it very clear who is in bed with this Citibike crap.

  • Just an idea

Why can’t they install Bicycle racks
wherever there is a fire hydrant so they don’t take away your parking and it doesn’t block the FDNY to hookup their hoses

It would never happen in Boro park or Williamsburg, since there is leadership in those communities, wake up crown heights, we have no community council looking out for the interest of our community,
If don’t have elections for new community council, this the results
