Do You Know Anyone In Crown Heights Who Needs Help For Yom Tov?
Dear Friends,
The following is an important message from Chevra Simchas Shabbos V’yom to the Crown Heights community:
Do you know how many meals a family will need for Shabbos and Yom Tov this coming Tishrei? 24 meals! And that’s the minimum.
A family will need triple the amount of Shabbos meals than a regular month. Living costs are increasing dramatically, making months like Tishrei almost impossible for many hardworking families to manage.
At Chevra Simchas Shabbos V’yom Tov we know and feel your pain. CSSY is here to help Crown Heights families with food and basic necessities for this Tishrei! If you need help please don’t hesitate to reach out. You will receive assistance in a most discreet and confidential way.
We are urging you to please look out for your neighbors, friends and family who may need support. Pay attention as many are ashamed express their current circumstances.
Did your neighbor hint out that they have no funds to make Yom Tov?
Did your friend in shul mention that they cannot afford the high costs of food?
Did a family member ask you for a loan to get through Tishrei?
For 45 years, families have known they can turn to CSSY for help. CSSY is committed to helping 400 families celebrate Yom Tov with everything they need.

The Rebbe recognized the challenges that the month of Tishrei can bring to families and called on us to be a part of the solution. On Rosh Hashana 5738, the Rebbe spoke about helping Crown Heights families. The Rebbe suggested opening a fund to provide food for those in need in Crown Heights during the month of Tishrei just like the “maos chitim” fund for Pesach.
Shimshon Stock ob”m immediately heeded the Rebbe’s call and opened a fund that week, and so began Chevra Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov, known to all as CSSY. Ever since, CSSY has been there, ensuring every Crown Heights family has food for Shabbos and Yom Tov. CSSY distributes food vouchers to over 150 families who need help every week. But during Yom Tov, over 400 families are relying on our help.
This Elul, help fulfill the Rebbe’s request and be there for Crown Heights families in need.

I know of people that need help but…look at the application (click the link in this article)! They require that the applicant provide TWO references (names and numbers) plus disclose all government assistance and personal information like children’s names and ages, and if you are hosting guests for yom tov. That is more like an application for tuition discount! Is that discreet and honorable????
