BESHT: From Tennis Player to Tomim

This Shabbos at the BESHT: Rabbi Lev Yakov Voskoboynik will spend a fascinating evening sharing his life story, “From Tennis Player to Tomim, A Life Changing Story of a City Champion Tennis Player to a Chabad Rabbi.”

Lev Yakov Voskoboynik grew up in a small city in the suburbs of Los Angeles, CA. He used to be your average Los Angeles teenager—toiling in rigorous high school courses, partying when he could, and heavily involved in sports (he was a varsity tennis captain and a Los Angeles Tennis Champion). Life was good—busy and fun —but he always had a niggling feeling that something was missing.

Seven years ago he attended the CTeen Extreme Summer Experience, and the impact it had on his life has been nothing short of incredible. Over the past seven years, Lev Yakov has learned in yeshivas throughout the US and Canada, learning Yiddish, Hebrew, and eventually even becoming a maggid shiur and mashpia in Mesivta Lubavitch in Toronto (2019), Chovevei Torah (2021), and New Haven Mesivta (2022). Currently, Lev Yakov has piloted a program in Oholei Torah to help individualize intervention of 3rd and 4th graders who need extra help with basic skills in reading and understanding Yiddish and Hebrew.

Besides for the yeshiva world, Lev Yakov has created numerous outreach programs to help share the light and beauty of Judaism, such as piloting CTeen Yeshiva night in Los Angeles, and is also the creator and founder of the extremely successful WhatsApp group, the Daily JEW-ce, sending a daily 1-minute inspirational Torah message to over 250 people all over the world!
