UPDATED: Entire Block In Crown Heights Without Running Water Since The Morning

by CrownHeights.info

It’s a scorcher today at nearly 100 degrees in Crown Heights, and an entire block is without running water since 10:00am.

The entire Montgomery Street between Tory and Schenectady, including the stores on Troy and Schenectady have been without running water due to a busted pipe on the block, leaving hundreds of families scrambling Erev Shabbos.

“All the elected officials have been notified,” a block resident told CrownHeights.info, “but there has been a lackluster response.”

According to the neighbor, the city sent a single crew, who after working for a while, simply packed up and left without resolving the problem.

“There were no updates and no one handing out water,” the neighbor said, noting that the crew who was on the street had only said that another crew would be there later in the day to fix it.

As of now, neighbors are getting worried that the lack of water could have a negative effect on the blocks residents, primarily the elderly who would have difficulty finding alternative means of getting water.

Update: According to block residents, the water was turned back on just minutes before Licht Benchen.
