After more than 90 years of service to the residents Brooklyn, Kingsbrook Jewish Hospital has stopped admitting patients.

The change began on Wednesday as the hospital takes steps to close down its facility.

Located on the southern end of Crown Heights, the hospital is located under one mile from two other major hospitals, namely Kings County Hospital and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

With narrowing need for so many hospitals, Kingsbrook Jewish joined the One Brooklyn alliance with Brookdale Hospital and Interfaith Medical Center, closing down its facility to a stand alone Emergency Department, according to reports.

While Kingsbrook retained its Jewish name, the hospital has seen very few Jewish patients in recent years.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that the shul located in the hospital has remained active until today. The shul has in fact been closed due to COVID, and the minyan has relocated to a home.
