No less than five government agencies, and some put the number over ten, are roaming the city and inspecting for store compliance with the COVD-19 rules.
The rules being enforced include mandatory mask use for customers and employees, a cleaning and disinfecting log, and other paperwork filled out by each business.
The rules have been causing a nightmare for store owners who find themselves stretched thin, and unable to control who walks into their establishment.
Store owners in Crown Heights are reporting multiple visits by inspectors each week, including inspectors from the NYC Department of Buildings, and the NYC Sheriff’s Department. At stake for each business is thousands of dollars in fines, as well as the possibility of a businesses forced closure.
