With the recent government and media spotlight on the Jewish communities of New York City, the NYPD’s 71st Precinct hit the streets to hand out masks to those without near 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.

“With some assistance from Brooklyn South, our Community Affairs Officer Davis and our Auxiliary Officers hit the streets to pass out masks to anyone who may be in need,” the precinct wrote on twitter.

The uniformed officers could be seen Tuesday evening handing out the masks to bochurim near 770.

The mayor of New York City announced a fine Monday for anyone who refuses to wear a mask in ZIP codes with a high infection rate, which includes areas of Boro Park and Flatbush. Crown Heights was not on that list.
