Crown Heights Families Receive Subsidized Chromebooks

Viking Distribution has subsidized hundreds of Chromebooks for students to be able to join classes that have now moved online.

While physical Yeshiva buildings are closed, Rebbis and Morahs themselves are powering along, strong and as committed as ever to their students.

Before Pesach, United Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Crown Heights sent out a community-wide survey to all Crown Heights parents to consider every family’s needs to be able to migrate to online learning. The parents who needed it, received their Chromebooks this week, along with detailed instructions on how to set up the parental controls.

Lubavitcher Yeshiva is reminding all participating parents: “While for logistical reasons we are not able to set up the parental controls on the Chromebooks, we urge every parent, please DO NOT allow your child to learn on the Chromebook before following the instructions received in your email (and available here) on how to setup parental controls on the Chromebook.”

“I was watching in awe how Hatzalah, nurses and doctors were risking their lives to help during these times, and thought, how can we utilize our business to be of help?” a member of Viking Distribution shared, “which is when the thought occurred that there are thousands of children at home in need of devices to be able to continue learning online.

“Many parents have been unable to work during the pandemic and are financially strapped now more than ever. If Hashem gave us the opportunity to be able to keep the business open during these times, it must be to be able to help others in the way we can.”

He concluded, “We want to encourage others, to take a moment and think how they can be a help during these times – its not always on the medical side – there are many ways to help.”
