Surprise Breakfast for 7th and 8th Grades in OT
In honor of Rosh Chodesh, 7th and 8th grades in the Oholei Torah Mechina Division were surprised to a full catered breakfast, and special event. After davening instead of going to their regular places in the lunchroom, the talmidim were escorted to the grand Ballroom, where tables were set “fit for a king” with a full breakfast.
Music, D’vrei Torah and singing permeated the breakfast, which gave the talmidim a special appreciation for Rosh Chodesh, and added most happy atmosphere for the whole day.
Rabbi Yossi Bryski, Director of OTEG organized the event, and Rabbi Levi Borenstein said a D’var Torah.
Rabbi Sholom Goldstein, Principal of the Mechina Division said that this is just one of the many exciting events that will be forthcoming for the upcoming year, all geared towards motivating the talmidim to do their utmost in limud and darchei haChassudus.
Why not Me
As an Alumni of Oholei Torah, I scream “Lama Ngorah” – How come we didn’t have such “parties??” – Kol Hakavod to Rabbi Goldstein and Rabbi Bryski – always trying hard to keep our “yuogent” excited!

Using food as a reward
…leads to eating disorders. Obesity is a growing problem in our community, especially among our children. When food is used as a reward, you might be fostering an eating disorder which will manifest in the child’s teen years.
Rabbi Borenstein, the best teacher ever
I was a a student years ago and I remember still what he taught. the care and inspiration. His happy guidance and chilled out discipline was a great boon in my life and the lives of many other Oholei Torah students.
G-d bless you Rabbi Borenstein, I still remmber you fondly from 20 years ago.
Obesity
As I skim over the pictures, it breaks my heart to see a large number of students with BMI of 25 or higher. They are in various stages of obesity and are at high risk for associated diseases. Same goes for the staff – they too need a healthy relationship with food, exercise and nutrition. Using food for rewards as #3 said: IS NOT THE WAY!! Educators should know better!!!!
