Friendship Circle Volunteers Thanked
Upon concluding a most successful year of dedication, love and caring for children with special needs, forty young men were treated to a barbecue and bonfire in appreciation of a job well done.
The Friendship Circle of Brooklyn’s Boys Division features a weekly Chavrusa learning program, a Shabbos Minyan, Farbrengens and outings. All of the Bochurim who volunteer spend their dinner breaks – their only free time during a 14 hour daily learning schedule – with a young adult or child with special needs.
Yossi Smoller, coordinator of the division, thanked the Bochurim for going way beyond the call of duty and really making a difference to the boys they befriended over the year.
Rabbi Berel Majesky, director of the Friendship Circle of Brooklyn, said: “you have given so much, we have but one more request, please encourage the next generation of Bochurim coming to learn in Crown Heights to volunteer their time; share with them those priceless moments that you so cherish, and empower them to follow in your footsteps.”
Each volunteer was given a gift – a set of customized Friendship Circle Cuff-links – as a small token of the community’s great appreciation.
A special thank you goes to the Eichorn Family for hosting the event.
