Local Mechanchim Given Token of Appreciation
Everyone deserves to be appreciated, especially those who work tirelessly for our own children. That’s why generous sponsors from the Crown Heights community decided to give some of the Shluchim of Crown Heights a small token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work. The token was given to the male teachers of the local Yeshivas.
Just as last year, the token of gratitude came in the form of a $1,000 non-expiring gift certificate to the Hat Box, a Flatbush men’s clothing store selling hats, suites, shirts, ties, coats, shoes, and other accessories. The gift certificate is an appreciation not only for the teachers but also for their families as well, who are partners in their invaluable and holy work.
The gesture was arranged by Yehuda Gurwitz and Rabbi Sholom Goldstein, with a special thank you to R’ Moshe Rubashkin. Recipients will include mechanchim in Oholei Torah Elementary, Mesivta and Zal; Lubavitcher Yeshiva Crown Street, Chovevai Torah Mesivta and Zal; Lubavitcher Yeshiva Ocean Parkway elementary and Mesivta; Darchei Menachem; Ohr Menachem, Cheder at the Ohel and 770.
In total, over 180 mechanchim will be receiving the gift certificate.

would be nice if CROWN HEIGHTS woke up and realized – WE – the WOMEN of this community – are not SECOND CLASS CITIZENS and deserved as much if not more then the men

Are you guys (or gals) ill?
Someone does something AMAZINGLY nice and all you can find within yourself to do is CRITICIZE?
SICK SICK SICK.
Instead heap praise on the work of these individuals and YOU YOURSELF go out there and do the same all the others you so easily list.
Shame on you all!
A WOMAN AND A TEACHER!!!!!!
I personally am happy that if they are on a limited fund that they are giving the men first!!! most men give what they have to their family, they dont make themselves a priority ( they say their old hat or kapota is just fine) by the time all the pesach shoping is done there really isnt anything left for themsleves. this certificate allows them to allow themselves a special something, its in a mens store, thank you!!!! they have no choice but to also have something new for yomtov!!! this is truly wonderful!!!
besides if they give the men something it usally means more money for the wife to get something for herself :-)))
amazing work thank u!
u ppl are sick never can say good!!!!!!!!!
Go number 11!!! Go number 11!!!
Go number 11!!!
If anyone wants others to get aswell, GO DO IT YOUR SELF!!!
these guys decided they want these teachers to get, they worked it out. If you decide others should get, go work it out YOUR SELF! dont put down others that did 180 teachers more then you did!
Shluchim of Crown Heights
i once heard an extremely interesting story, it happened once when the rebbe spoke about the greatness of shluchim (it could be when the rebbe gave out the kuntres just to shluchim) that someone asked the rebbe what about teachers, don’t they also do great work, to which the rebbe responded that the frie’er dieker rebbe has already spoken very much about the greatness of milamdim.
even though one isn’t a shliach he is (still able to be) a great chossid, when acting in accordance with the ways and action our rebbe has taught us, at the same time he is not a shliach. i as a son of a milamed find it unnecessary and somewhat degrading calling my father a shliach. for that means the only way one can be a chosid/count is by being a shliach. for my father may not be a shliach yet he is a great chosid. my grandfather was a businessman at the same time a chosid, yet not a shliach. i am a grandson of 2 chasidim and i hope to be the first shliach in my family
in the hood
thanks for the amazing work.

This is wonderful!!!!! Excellent! Superb!! I’m just sooo happy! My husband and I are not teachers, but its about time money is invested in Crown Heights. Shluchim should raise from thei communities, and we should focus on ours. Enough throwing funds at something we stand nothing to gain from. Mazal tov! And hopefully there’ll be more followers taking their money and giving it to their children’s schools locally. Amen!!!!!

Rabbi’s Yehuda Gurwitz and Rabbi Sholom Goldstein etc. deserve lots of credit.
They are giving the teachers as a token of appreciation for the great work they are doing.
Obviously they can decide who to give the money – they collected the money. They decide how to distribute.
On the other hand –this distribution of $1000 would not happen if the teachers were making BIG BUCKS.
So this brings us back to comment #6:
what about the youngeleit – Klei Kodesh – working at Chabad.org. Kehos. The Rebbe’s Library. Jem. SIE. LAHAK. all these young men sacrifice their lives, not getting a big salary, working for the Rebbe’s Mosdos!

While I appreciate the money given to the male teachers, the question remains – what about the female teachers? What about the Morahs of the pre-1a classes?
They are the ones who have to change diapers, wait outside in the cold for the buses, wipe the runny noses, deal with temper tantrums – are they any less worthy than the men?
I know some women teachers who put in a lot more effort than the Rebbis – and when their day ends at 3 they then have to go home and take care of their OWN families.
It’s not too late for this year, Rabbis Gurwitz, Rabbis Goldstein and Rabbi Rubashkin – it could be a gift-certificate for the Kollel Store, or Empire Kosher – or anything – just something to show that the ladt teachers are appreciated just as much as the men.
