NYPD Releases Photo of Crown Heights Bank Robber

Crown Heights [CHI] — Police have released a photo of a bandit wanted for twice targeting the Apple Bank in Crown Heights last year. Is it just our imagination, or does that grainy image show an African-American bank robber dressed as a Hassidic Jew?

The crime spree started last year on Jan. 1 at the branch on Flushing Avenue, when the crook pulled a gun and demanded cash from a teller at 12:20 p.m., authorities said.

On Feb. 1 at 12:14 p.m., he knocked off the Albany Avenue branch in Crown Heights at gunpoint. He returned to that branch on June 23, passing a note to a teller and escaping with cash, cops said.
