Supermarket Aisles Named for Crown Heights Streets

Over the past few months the KosherTown Supermarket has undergone a major renovation and refresh, with the addition of a charming touch: the aisles are now named after Crown Heights’ streets and Avenues.

A manager of the supermarket told CrownHeights.info that they hope to have the store open and back to regular in just a few weeks.

Oh, that is cute as can be. What sort of food do they keep on Montgomery Street?

  • Pricing

Are they going to start putting up prices near items? or should i just wait to be Shechted at the counter?

In NYC, nearly ALL items must have price tags on every items. There are certain exceptions (milk, baby food, perishables, etc.).

Whether or not you are allowed to call 311 to complain is a discussion for another day …

    • hmm....

since president street is a expensive block all the food in that aisle will be expensive :)

A little personality goes a long way.

Many stores in CH – big and small – could take a lesson from this.

I guess the store owner does not expect any out-of-town customers who are unfamiliar with the street names of Crime Heights.

There is a reason why stores “number” their aisles – because everyone (even young children!) know that aisle #2 is after #1 and before #3.

I can also guess that the store owner did not think this though very well.

    • the numbers

maybe you couldn’t tell from the pictures, but there ARE numbers for each aisle, the street names are just for a cute touch and decor.

I guess you didn’t think your comment through very well. If you look at the photos above, each aisle has a number in pretty large type; the street names are additional to that.

    • Are you blind?

You can see in the pictures that the aisles are numbered as well. The street names are just htere for a cute touch.

Adding a “cute touch”?! Suppose I respond by KINGSTON adding a ALBANY street mane TROY among my UNION response, real cute, NO!.

I wonder if the cross aisle are Kingston & Albany??
That way the cashier can be on the corner of Albany and Empire….

  • Were you there?

If the heat was on then at least the shopping experience would be pleasant. I was more freezing in there then outside. I couldn’t even think what to buy because my fingers were so numb.
