Raucous Group of Teens Wreck Crown Heights Shop
Today at around 3:00pm, a group of about ten 15-year-old public school teens crowded into the Sell-a-Bration stationary and toy store on Kingston Ave., and began to get rowdy. Fearing damage to his store and goods, Yisroel Greenberg politely requested that they exit the store and re-enter two at a time.
Things quickly went downhill from there. The teenagers began yelling at the shopkeeper that he was only asking them to leave because he is “racist.” They began hurling accusations at the owner, saying things like “we black so our money is no good here?” and “you think we gonna steal because we black?” to which he simply said “I cannot have this many people in my store at once.”
One of them then knocked over a display case, causing about $200 worth of damage.
Hearing the commotion, a number of fellow shopkeepers came to help. They held on to the teen who caused the damage while the rest of them fled, and called Shomrim, who were followed by the Police. When the police arrived, the teen started shouting that he was assaulted by the storeowner.
Sgt. Al Kelley (who is in charge of community affairs) was phoned by one of the officers and asked how to handle the situation. Sgt. Kelley said “if the kids were also hurt then they all get arrested ‘even Steven,’” (his exact words). He didn’t care what the kids did.
The Police officer was very polite and helpful, but he told the storeowner that it would not be worthwhile to press charges, because the perpetrator is a minor, and because he would probably face counter charges on the assault claim, even though it was obvious to all those present that no such thing occurred.
Instead, the cop took down the numbers to the kid’s parents and school, and promised that the appropriate measures would be taken to ensure that nothing of the sort would happen again.

This is what they teach them, how to circumvent the justice system? How do little kids know about this ‘even steven’ law? Shame on the school system and the teachers’ union who just pull money from the government without any oversight or need to produce, that’s racism, allowing less fortunate kids (usually from the black community) to just roll through school without really acheiving much, and then go on to lead a life of crime.

Unfortunately this is a common police tactic. Even though it is obvious what occurred, when minors are involved, either the minors know the routine and claim they were assaulted or the police encourage them to press charges as they know you will be forced to drop charges (as you have more to lose) and then miraculously the incident disappears. Crime stats and paperwork go away.

It was terrible there is never a cop on the Avenue (besides for tickets) there the kids knocked over stands and the store keeper patiently asked them to behave. And as if out of a zoo they all went wild
Wingate School is reponsible
I watch these wild kids go up Kingston ave from Wingate school . a talk with principal and security personel at the Wingate school to have these kids taught how to behave on our avenue .
I blame the School.
We had this problem a few years ago , they routed the kids to Nostrand ave subway ,for them to go up Kingston is a chance for trouble and problems .
Speak to chanina to ask the school to either students comform or use another route home .

What nerve! The punks had the nerve to call the shopkeeper a racist. That is exactly what they are for thinking Jews are racist, since many Jews happen to be white. The store owner is the victim of anti-semitism and racism rolled into one. Political correctness sucks, it is bringing down our country. And on top of that, the punk who vandalized his store cried like a little sissy that he was assaulted. Too bad the owner of the store was not armed, thanks to politically correct gun control laws. It would have served the little cry baby punk right if a Jew had pulled a gun on him. It is no wonder the Jews have their own volunteer patrols, which allow Non-Jews to be a part of. The teenagers in this case are bunch of hypocrites and losers just like Charles Barron and Al Sharpton.

This is why you need cameras in stores, the cop could have believed the little thug , arrested the store owner , who then would have to spend thousands of dollars on legal fees.

uhh, pulling a gun on someone when there is no reasonable way to believe that one’s life is in danger is called ‘aggravated assault’ and carries a 3 year mandatory prison sentence where i live. don’t rush to say ‘guns are the answer’

I always see officer Meale walking around Kingston during the Sukkoth holidaies. He is a disgrace. His uniform always looks like it hasn’t been laundered in weeks. He never wears a tie. he just looks like a sloppy mess. very unprofessional and obviously an uneducated individual. is this what the NYPD is hiring now? DISGRACEFUL

Years ago I marched into the public school on Montgomery Street to confront the Principal about the behavior of one nasty little creep who was always taunting my kids. I followed him to see which school he went to. You could have heard a pin drop, a white woman marching in & demanding to see the Principal. She came out, I described the animal, she yelled “CHARLIE!!!” (or whatever) & my kids never had another problem again.
Mr. Greenberg should follow up…go get a police report, get the names & go into the school. Stop waiting for the police to help you, that will never happen, do it yourself. Install security surveillance & get a buzzer.
And have Shomrim on speed dial.

It is unfair to speak of some of the officers this way, yet i agree about this messy one that goes by the name Maely. I’ve seen him gobbling down sandwiches and food inside Prime Sandwich with reckless abandon. Shouldnt he be exercising and keeping trained so he can protect us better??

the store owner should never have let them go he should get a police report and report it. what are we teaching our kids, that they can go looting a store and get away with it????? watch it more kids from the public school will come again and do the same thing as today the kids got away with it. if it was my store i would make a HUGE uproar and let the media know what is going on and maybe i would even go to the kids school and make a big shtink. this harrasement has to be nipped in the bud before it happens to more stores on kingston ave. That particular store owner is the most kind and gentle man ever, from my observation of him on several occasions. It’s laughable to claim he would ever assault someone, and those punks would never be believed. The police officer was a coward! Yes, Sell-a-Bration,up your security immediately way beyond necessary because isn’t this the second time,; and now you’re an easy target.

There was a crime committed by the kids, they should NOT get away with it. They claim there was assault? we know better than that, the cops know better. Let them prove it. take them into separate room and get their statements.

Who is to pay for the damages?
If there is no police report to present for insurance claims, the precinct should be sued for scaring a victim away from pressing charges.
