Five Firefighters Injured Battling Crown Heights Blaze
Five New York City firefighters were injured fighting a blaze at a Crown Heights apartment Monday morning.
Two firefighters were listed in serious condition, 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reported. One of them sustained burns to over 40 percent of his body including his head, face and back.
Both were being treated at the Burn Center at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Witnesses said the two firefighters came out of the 3rd floor of the burning Prospect Place brownstone engulfed in flames.
“One was hanging out the window with fire all over him and the other one came out the front door,” one man told 1010 WINS’ Terry Sheridan. “My heart was in my throat.”
Three other firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals.
The cause of the two-alarm fire which broke out just after 9 a.m. is under investigation.
More than 100 firefighters and emergency crews had responded to the scene.

I hope the firefighter recovers. They have a very dangerous job.
Chanukah Candles
All the more reason to be careful when lighting Chanukah candles and not leaving them unattended.
