Students Observe Hasidic Law Professor in Action

JTVS students at the Brooklyn Law School

Law School students attending JTVS/Bramson ORT College were given a special treat yesterday, Monday, November 14, 2011. The students had the unique opportunity to observe a lecture by a world renowned Torts expert, Law professor and devout Hasid at Brooklyn Law School.

Over the course of the fall semester, Chabad students have been studying business law at Bramson under the tutelage of Professor Ruchie Freier Esq.

Mrs. Freier, led the trip to her Alma Matter, accompanying the students to a lecture by Law Professor Aaron Twerski. Professor Twerski descends from Chabad, Sanz, Bobov, and Chernobyl dynasties. His brother is the well known psychiatrist, Rabbi Abraham J. Twerski.

The nearly fifteen students who were in attendance listened as Professor Twerski analyzed the laws and technicalities of liabilities and negligence. The students were moved by the deep respect that the law students had for their erudite Chasidic law professor. It was important to Professor Freier that the students see that being frum does not limit one from making great accomplishments in one’s professional career.

JTVS’ yeshiva program is directed by Rabbi Levi Kaplan. The college program is overseen by Yair Rosenrauch, director of Bramson ORT’s Brooklyn extension site. Bramson ORT prides itself in providing a nurturing environment for Chareidi students and the personalized attention needed for each of these students to excel.

It has been my pleasure getting to know the Bramson ORT students from Crown Heights. They are a wonderful group of boys with lots of potential for Hatzlocha. I look forward to seeing much nachas from them!

I’m so proud to read this article. This shows Jews that a Torah observant Jew can not only excell in the religious area of his/her life but also in the professional arena that they choose. The two choices are able to enhance each other and throw a brighter light from the Lighthouse of Torah in their respective daily life. Professor Aron Twerski and his brother R’ Abraham Twerski, MD are absolutely the greatest examples.
Now, if only exercise, fitness, and gyms would be introduced into the curriculm of the pale faces of the yeshiva students. A healthy body doesn’t have to mean a proud body, but one that is nurtured for HaShem, just as the mind and soul are nurtured.

B”H JTVS and Rabbi Levi Kaplan are the best thing to happen to Crown Heights in many years. Motivating, Encouraging and Nuturing a generation of young men that will see success and happiness in their lives.

While you may in theory be correct, I can tell you, after spending 50 years in this world, the attraction to western culture and its pleasures can be so overwelming that attempts to come close to this culture many times ends with spiritual disaster.

The presons you mentioned as examples had been exposed to most solid Jewish education and had been lamdanim BEFORE the engaged the secular world.

Like is stated in many sifrei kodashim (see Chovos haLevavos), you can NOT have both worlds. like it or not.

Stop hating on these young men who are trying to do something more with their lives than have a bunch of babies to support on welfare and food stamps or lying, deceiving and cheating in order to get a donation.
Webster definition of bum: a unemployed wanderer…hum, any community come into mind?

  • To #6 and #7 LOL

#6 exactly what does Chabad look like? Would that be the guys with the beards, black hats and suits that have been preying on your children for YEAR’S or those that abuse (beat) their wives without mercy or are you referring to those that we see on nightly news and papers having the honor of the perp walk on the way to jail…all with beards, black hats and suits. and to #7 what is your message, take a look around your community. these young men are not trying to have both worlds, they are acting responsible getting educated to have jobs to take care of and support wives and children all the while still getting a Yeshiva education that they could have walked away from. #6 and #7 if you can’t congratulate these young men do not try to tear them down. SHAME ON YOU. By the way did not the Rabbi of the Year “Rabbi Krinsky’s” grandson attend and graduate from this very school…very chabad.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Any other comments regaring what you wrote is not deserving.
By the way, it would be a good idea to start to say Chitas or at least daven every day. This perhaps will purify your heart and mind. Do you know what the Rebbe said about attending college? Would you have replied to the Rebbe with the same words you used in your letters?

  • to #4

the Twerskys were already married and had a reshus from their Rebbe before going to college

  • To comment 6&11

Who exactly do you think you are accusing us of not saying Chitas or Davening?

We have a Minian every day followed by a Chitas class.
So before you start accusing people how about looking at yourself first!!!(do you say chetas or daven)?

Why are you so judgmental, you’ve obviously not learned enough Cassidus!!!

What happens if one day your son leaves the Yeshivah world… you will beg him to go to such a great program as this, so before dissing this program imagine you son was there!!

To all other comments thanks for the support!!
