No Specific Threat, But Crown Heights on Alert

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — With the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks just days away the city is on heightened alert after receiving credible but non-specific threats. Crown Heights is also on heightened alert and local organizations have been collaborating with police to ensure the safety of our residents, Shuls and institutions.

A representative of Merkos Linyonei Chinuch has been in touch with the NYPD and together they have come up with a number of ways to secure 770. There will be no parking near 770 on Kingston and no through traffic in the service lane in front of 770.

Police officers will be posted all around the neighborhood offering extra protection and more watchful eyes keeping us safe.

Shomrim announced that they are also on heightened alert, adding extra proactive patrols and calling up more volunteers to walk the streets throughout Shabbos.

A coordinator urged residents to report anything suspicious to the authorities.

  • Annoying Idiots

Hyperactive bored-souls are trying to “secure” 770 by annoying the residents, restricting the parking and closing streets off.

At least some people can pat themselves on the back claiming they did something.

  • 770 Safety

770 is one of the highest on the list of potential targets of terrorist acts against Jewish institutions. Based on that, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been geiven to Lubavitch by Homeland Security. All mispallilim in 770 , regardless of which minyan they daven in , are entitled to know what precautions have been taken , and where and how were these funds used to insure our safety. Restricting parking near 770, and beefing up police prescence does not cost anything. I have asked this question numerous times on this and other sites but it seems that people are afraid to rock the boat, and have not published this question. We are entitled to know what steps have been taken to protect us since these funds have been given for that specific reason. Will you feel safe walking into 770 on Rosh Hashonna when you know that as in the past any crazie can just walk in to the Shul ?? We are entitled to know where these funds went, and what steps ,if any, were instituted with these funds.

gr8 another reason for NYPD to bring revenue into the city,, ON OUR BACKS,,, more cops, means more tickets,, that is the only guarantee,, our security is not guaranteed.
