New Teacher’s Training Program Launched

The Wall Street Journal recently ran an article discussing the current prevailing trend in education: the focus on training teachers, re-approaching educators from within, to effect change at the core of the educational system.

This only strengthens Menachem Education Foundation’s imperative to upgrade our already flourishing program, and it is with pride that we announce the commencement of this year’s Teacher Training Program, which took place on Sunday, November 14, 2010.

Under the new leadership of program alumnus Rabbi Mendy Yuzewits, the Teacher Training Program is running an updated, progressive program where the participants are trained through class observation, and committed mentoring.

The strong group of trainees is comprised of aspiring young men who were selected for their motivation and passion for education.

Each participant has shown serious commitment to education in the past, and is well versed in the subject matter he is interested in teaching. As a group, they are enthusiastic about expanding their educational capacity and have an openness to improve their skills and include the new ideas they learn into their teaching method.

The kick-off event began with Rabbi Lustig, an alumnus of our Leadership Training Program, discussing the importance of chinuch. He stressed the importance of a teacher’s focusing on each individual child in his care, and recognizing the incredible honor and responsibility one takes on when entering the world of chinuch.

The Executive Director of Menachem Education Foundation, Rabbi Zalman Shneur, went on to outline the vision of the program, describing the vital role in chinuch each graduate of the program will play in the world of chinuch.

The evening continued with alumnus Levi Eisenberg sharing his personal experience in the program. He provided tips on how to ensure the participants are gaining all they can from the program. Rabbi Mendy Yuzewitz concluded the evening by outlining this year’s program schedule.

The air in the room was one of excitement and anticipation. Participants and faculty are looking forward to an empowering, learning-filled year.
