Gift Boxes Spotted Around Crown Heights

CrownHeights.info received tips from a number of readers about blue gift boxes being left in random places around Crown Heights. Any ideas what they are?

    I think that No3 has the right idea that we should appreciate all the gifts around us and they are so random in such random places. We surely dont appreciate anything anymore

    I saw a guy holding a camera with these boxes in front of him.. like he was positioning them to take pics…. beats me what they are for… maybe publicity of some sort… did anyone open one to see what they were? maybe its someone giving free gifts out!

    I saw a guy taking the same few boxes and taking pics with them. he said he is going to promote a new type of gift exchange, but refused to elaborate.

    He obviously wanted to get many peoples attention… I dont understand it yet.. but i guess its mission accomplished.

    Whats wrong with you people who think this is dangerous! Don’t be so square! If someone is taking pictures of these things, and posting them online (as an auction advert) do you think he is leaving them around and walking away? And even if he would, how long do you think it would be before some panhandler opened them up. They wouldn’t last in NYC for five minutes untended. Stop living in one of those boxes!

    PRECAUTION is the key in today’s day!
    YOU are maybe the photographer of those boxes and do not realize the danger because it came from a good intention from you, maybe!
    But it give so many bad ideas for the wrong person to watch this over the internet!

    Altho’ whoever did this thought it was cute, in our era of ‘terrorists trying to hurt us” this was REALLY NOT well thought out.
    Today it’s just a publicity stunt, tomorrow a terrorist could leave them and who ever touches or opens them would get blown up.
    Kinda scary!

    Firstly, I am not the photographer.

    Secondly, take a chill, my point was that no one actually left boxes around – he obviously put one down,took a picture collected it and then went to the next spot. So what’s the danger in that? What if he did it in Photoshop? would it still be dangerous?

    Thirdly, if you see a package report it to the police – but there was no package to see it was just a picture. Are you worried that people are gonna say “hey, in CH they don’t worry about suspicious packages anymore, the proof is that someone took a photo shoot of some prizes for his auction”. I don’t think terrorists need our training, and we should still teach our children to watch out. This is not setting a precedented for danger chas veshalom.

    Stop making a big deal out of nothing – no one left an actual package.

    very dangerous joke!!! Especially in the times we live in!!! If there were police around, they would have taken away all the boxes immediatly and checked.

    I think this should actually be a “crime”. In todays day and age we are trained that any unattended packages should be considered an immediate threat. If the individual responsible thinks its funny to waste police time and resources, its not. There are real threats to our security and we should not haveto wonder if this is one of them or just someones idea of a joke or advertisement! In Israel this would be an immediate “chefetz chashud”. Whoever you are, what were you thinking?

    look i saw the person take the pic’s he put them there and then just dump it, next you all got fooled he just wanted to get your attention and yes did a wonderful job. i did go after to see what were in the boxes, they were just from Kehot.
