The Crown Heights Softball League’s fifth season opener is this Sunday at Lefferts Park. Whether you’re a savvy sports fan who wants to get deeper into the game, or a curious resident of the neighborhood, join other fans on the bleachers for the back-to-back games. The game card includes: The Tribe versus the Mulles leading off at 9 AM, followed by the Red Heifers versus the Kloppers at 10:30 AM.

The league is comprised of six teams: The Tribe, the Raskin Mulles, the Landmark Funding Red Heifers, the House of Glatt Kloppers, the Printhouse Hebrew Hammers, and the AWS Skullcaps. The players from the six teams have been checking their swings, loosening up their throwing arms, and throwing their fastballs, change-ups, knuckleballs, sinkers and sliders in anticipation of this season.

Don’t miss Opening Day. Get there early! Crown Heights Softball League players will be signing autographs to the first fans in the stands.

The league, sponsored by Spotlight Design and Sweet Expressions, is selling its caps and T-shirts next week at Sweet Expressions.

To Comment #3 who is criticizing this: Yes, we all agree that this is NOT the ultimate reason why the Rebbe Rashab created Tomchei Temmimim, Bochrim and Yungeleit shoud not LIG in these Shtusim….BUT, not everyone is cut out to be a “regular” bochur or Yungerman, and these are Neshomos, OUR Neshomos, our children from Anaash, and we should NOT be Merachk them but instaed Mekarev them and hold them as our own. Thank you. And please STOP criticizing!!

  • in response to Lets make the Rebbe...

My guess is that you are probably not doing anything significant with your life and all you can do is muster up some courage to make anonymous criticisms on the internet. I tend to believe that a tomim like you should not be on the net at all, even for such a necessary task as making sure the net is kosher and chassidish to your liking.

  • I agree about the tznius part

They need to ensure that this whole thing including the audience that is watching, should be done in a tznius way-in all aspects

  • Kol Hakavod!

Although I personaly am not a baseball fan (I prefer cycling, best known cardio-vascular exercise), I acknowledge the neeed for our dear yungerlite to stay fit and healthy. This is their responsibility towards their families, and themselves too! I am assuming that each one of the players keeps some sort of daily exercise regimen in order to stay fit for the games. The games are used as an extra incentive to keep toned and fit.
I ride the park or the velodrome almost daily, and enjoy when I see members of our community taking the time to do exercise. Everyone neeeds a motivation. For some its a visit to the cardiologist r”l, for others its competition (kinas sofrim vechu’).
I can’t speak for the Rebbe, but I THINK/FEEL that he IS proud – we are keeping HIS Chassidim well and healthy.
    Mitzvo Lefarsem Oisei Mitzvo!

  • a shande!!!

Physical activity and health oriented eacercises and games is one thing, organized leagus in a Chassidishe community???? a shande and another indication on how confused our minds and hashkofo became!!!!
