Mr. Greens Easing the Burden of Making Pesach
Many families will have one less thing to worry about this Pesach, fruits and vegetables. Once again Mr. Greens, an Albany Avenue produce shop, is giving back to the community, donating a stockpile of the produce that makeup the staple of the holiday.
Set up on the corner of Albany and Union a truck showed up at 6:00am and workers unloaded palette after palette of potatoes, carrots, onions, romaine lettuce, sweet potatoes, beets and oranges.
In addition to the food, clothing was set up on tables and racks for all to take, this was done in conjunction with Mr. Clean cleaners, a sister store in the Mr. family of businesses, and others who donated their shoes and clothing.
“This is where the parnassah comes from” said a passerby to one of the owners, and thanked him for his generosity.

Dear Mr. Green,
Words alone cannot express the great mitzvah you and your family do for others in our communitty. By being a consistant “giver” you have demonstrated the caring and loving attitude that we can and should all learn from.
Thank you again for making this possible. May you and your family be blessed with continued health, nachas and success.

What a beautiful mitzvah they’ve done.
Too late
Thank you Mr. Greens. Howevr it would have been nice if I would have known about this before the event and not after so I too could have participated.

There is always two sides to the story.
I have to share my side with the readers as well.
Yes it is a great Mitzvah to help others, but
it needs to be done with the dignity and respect.
Did you notice that the faces of man and women on the pictures are obscured?
This is done not make sure to respect the privacy of those in need. Because the photographer has the sensitivity and respect to those people.
I can not say the same was done to the people who came for help by the lady in charge of the food distribution.
A local community member came and picked up the food that she needed only to be asked if the was on some list or not.
When the answer was negative, she was told that she can not take the food now and she has to wait until all those on the list will be served. She had to returned the food and left because she could not wait few hours for other people to fulfill their needs.
Now, how would you call this situation? Misunderstanding.
Perhaps, but would not it make sense to let people know
upon arrival that they need to be on the list to get the
food? A simple sign indicating that requirement in front of the store and the other distribution points would help!
Now, imagine that YOU coming for help and only AFTER you
picked up what you need YOU were told that you have to unload the food and wait until all others on the list will be helped first. Hah?!
I do not call this misunderstanding. I call this deliberate mayhem. This is unacceptable by any human standards and that is why this should be publisized.
SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE FOR HUMILIATING THOSE IN NEED!
SHAME ON YOU!
Here is the message to the organizers. Have the sensitivity and respect to all who come. If you did not put the sign or did not announced to the people upon arrival that they need to be the list, that make it your problem and let the people to take care of their needs on the “first come first serve basis” instead of humiliating these people in public!
Thank you
A kosher v’sameach Peisah to all!
The Way I See It
Local Community Member:
Your complaints are legitiamte, but did you notice that this distibution was not advertised in advance? Did you notice how there were many poeple waiting in line for thier turn?
Imagin this, there is no order and there was no one managing the distributuion, the caose that would reign is unthinkable!
Fact is that there is a list of families that are the beneficiaries of this Chesed, and if you know somone who unfortunatly needs it as well you should make sure to contact the people in charge to get on the list.
What if there was no distribution? What would the woman you speak about do? Where will she feed her family from then?
Basicaly my point is that there is a Seder, and it must be followed in order for it to work. While you are right with your complaint, you are wrong for the feeling of entitlement.
To: the way you see it.
To the way you see it.
until you can prove that the ppl who benefited from this project are the once that are on the ORIGINAL list we will never know if there is a SEDER or not….
maybe for the next year they can learn from the other community organizers.
-prior notice
-req: get on the list (phone number to call) or you have to have a pass…
this way everyone is clear about the procedure and misunderstanding are limited.
never the less a BIG thank you to the Mr. Greens for sponsoring.

aghast & disgusted
There are always people who complain. OF COURSE those in charge make mistakes, the system isn’t perfect. But last year, people complained the recipients were easily identifiable. That was fixed. So now there’s something new to complain about.
Yes, your complaints ARE valid (I suppose, I don’t need B”H so I have to take your word for it) but instead of publicly ranting, how about walking round the corner to Mr. Greens & explaining the issue. Instead, you chose to publicly bash these Baalei Tzedaka.
No wonder people don’t help each other enough. No good deed goes unpunished. It takes a steel spine to put up with the ingratitude & abuse.

Hi,
It’s nice to put up pics, but you don’t need to put pics of people, even with blurred faces, if you know them, you recognize them— body shape, shaitel/hairstyle can be made out, and you can recognize them by their clothes as well.
Please remove so that these people can feel comfortable as well.
thanks, Yael
c-mon.....
Why cant Crown Heights act with more modesty?????? Why cant they deliver the food to peoples door, and i am not talking about mr greens, I am talking about the Tzadakah org! Why do they have to come and pick it up, so not honorable!
We belive it, we dont need pictures I can identify people by their purse clothing sheitals etc.

@Happy Pesach
That is a matter of opinion. That being said, you are 100% wrong.
A special Legacy
This is R’ Shabsi Gordon’s legacy. His middos and chesed are kept alive through his children.

Really beautiful chesed!!
And so appreciated by everyone, for spreading the energy of love and caring throughout the community and not just by those getting the help.
Blessings to you for a wonderful yomtov, and the best holiday of freedom ever!
To c-mon......
Who is the “they” that is supposed to drive around in the truck, door to door? Are you willing to volonteer your time to do all that? If you are, then just quitely arrange for such a plan with Mr. Green or “the tzedakah org.” to do that next year, if you are not, then don’t go on a rant about how someone else – how what they are currently doing “Is all wrong, and they should be doing things better”!
