Beautification of Crown Heights, 25 New Trees Planted

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — This morning 25 new trees were planted around Crown Heights as part of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s Tree Planting Program called “One in a Million”, calling each tree another step for a greener New York City.

Mother pushing strollers with children stopped and watched as the landscapers dug out holes in the sidewalks and put the new trees in, explaining to their children what it is the workers were doing. One passerby asked, with a smile, if they could come and plant one in her back yard.

The trees have been the source of some debate as some community activists have been pushing for the added trees, which has drawn the ire of other residents who do not want the trees, saying that it blocks the sidewalks.

  • It dosen-t hurt

Beautiful, truly a very nice addition to our CH neighborhood and now this summer we can relax in the shade of a tree as we read the ticket left on our cars.

  • Property owner beware

They brake up the ground and cause costly sewer main problems along with law suits for the property owners. If you are an owner stat complaining ASAP to 311 if you want it removed.
