Elementary Students Summer Birthdays Celebrated

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The day of a child’s birthday is one of great pride, a day he grows a year older, and what better way than to celebrate it at school with his classmates in school where he is the center of attention for the day, having a party and giving out doughnuts and nosh. But what about the children whose birthday falls out in the summer, while they are away in camp or day camp?

Children in United Lubavitcher Yeshiva on Crown Street enjoyed the solution, a mass birthday party! Children from grades Pre-1a through 4th grade gathered in the lunchroom and celebrated all 64 students whos birthday falls out in the summer. Two large cakes with all the students’ names were prepared, and the children enjoyed a Pesach story from Rabbi Barnet, singing together and hear words of encouragement from Rabbi Simpson the school principal.

This event coincides with Chof Hey Adar, the day of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushkah’s birthday on which the Rebbe introduced “Mivtza Yom HuLedes” in which the Rebbe initiated an international birthday campaign, urging people to celebrate their birthdays and utilize the day as a time of self-examination and making Hachlotos [resolutions] involving an increase in good deeds.

Rabbi Simpson told CrownHeights.info “This project is one of the many that was instituted to promote Ahavas Yisroel amongst our Talmidim.”
