The new HASC Center is a beautiful warm residence that promotes independence and inclusion into the community while facilitating access to all the necessary clinical and therapeutic services.

So exciting to see such lovely photos of all the wonderful people that made this home a reality. A big shout out to our manager Mordechai Roth!!! Looking forwared to spending many more fun Shabbosim together with the fantastic group of guys at the home!
Hey!
Very nice but where are the Tiefenbruns?they rock this house!!
Fell blessed to be part of this comunity
I think it is WONDERFULL that our comunity has opened their arms and hearts to this residance home as well as the semi new female Woman’s league residance home that is located in crown heights as well. We should all be very proud.

Go Roth! You’re the man! Much hatzlacha.
sara
Who said all CH residents want this ? I live on the block and would hve preferred other neighbors.
A heartwarmed neighbor
To Sara,
Your comment is nasty to say the least. What did these unfortunate children ever do to you?? Have you ever gotten to know any of them?? Would you have rather have a house full of immodest immoral people instead? This is a wonderful opportunity for them and their families. Use your brains a little before writing something like that.
575
sara, i happen to live directly across the street from this house in the bulding 575 east new york avenue, and i remember this house sitting empty for months, and the drime that went on when the homeless broke into the place to stay warm, or when shomrim caught the group of black kids doing drugs in there.
this new thing hasc is doing for these kids on our block is amazing and increases the worth of the block, i stand more proud living here now.
All for it!
To Sara: I pray that you never have such a child but these kids bring a lot of light into everyone’s lives who meet them! They are lucky that such a home exists that can cater to their needs and enable them to function in our society as best as they can.

I think this is wondeful! Sara – your comments are horrible.
to sara
sara, you opened a can of worms and will probably not hear the end of it for a while. serves you right. What would you do if it was YOUR child that was born with (or later developed) disabilities that was too much for you to handle? wouldn’t you want him or her in a nice caring environment in which you did not have to take public transportation (or spend money on taxis or gas, whatever your personal transportation is like for you) in order to visit your child???
Shame on you for being so selfish and saying that you would rather not have such a home on your block!!!!!
Dovid z
Thank you Reb Shea!
You did it again! You are just amazing! I guess this time you to keep your brim down on all sides of your hat, don’t take any criticism for that you look so much more noble and Chsshuv! That’s the way you should look!
To insensitive sara
To Sara, really, are you not even aware how ignorant and absolutely dumb your comment is?!! Hashem made these wonderful children, and if Hashem finds it fitting to include them in our world, perhaps you can find it in your heart to include them are your block. I know one thing for sure, these children can sure teach you a thing or two about ahavas yisroel. I actually prefer not to have neighbors like YOU on my block!
............................
to sara, what if Hashem gave you a down syndrome child? We only think Hashem gives these special presents to special couples, but you know what, only Hashem knows what he has planned for you!!!!!!
To sara
if you can say that then u have alot miising in your head

Dear sara darling I was wondering if we could possibly make an opportunity for you to meet these amazing chevra. After all if you live nearby I am sure it shouldn’t be such a hassle. If you would be interested in maybe meeting these guys and seeing what an amazing place this really is. Keep in touch with me and I would be glad to try and arrange for you such a wonderful opportunity! 7188395591

ch.info, instead of having this “sara” getting bashed from all sides, why don’t u take out her comment. It’s not called for and I hope her the best of luck — she can move out of that block if it’s too hard for her to use her heart warmly to other fellow Yiddin.
sara
I don’t know where they should go, but not on my block ! I would rather have neighbors who would be my friends. To go to shiurim with, and to go to tzedekah parties with. Not people with problems.
My life is full of problems; why should I go home and see more? Let it be “someplace else”, not right in front of my nose ! I have precious few really frum friends in my part of town; HASC taking over this home just means less buildings for others.

Way to go Shmully & Tzirrel!!!!
Once again you are involved in an amazing and powerful project!

Shame on you!!
Dear Sara,
Hashem should bless you that you should never have a child with special needs. I don’t think you realize the hardships these family’s go through. This home is the biggest Brocha for these kids and families.
If you don’t like the idea of them living on your block you move somewhere else and maybe out of crownheights altogether.
b/c our neighborhood should not have ppl like you in it.
Maybe they should have been warned about you!!
to Sara
When you own the block you can decide who is allowed to move in.
If you don’t like you neighbors, perhaps you should consider relocating.
john doe
no its not sara to blaim for her comment its the pepole behind this site should use a bit of brains and not post a comment like that shame on you filter your comments
On the Block
To Sara
Please move off the block. You’re one sick person, I have lived on the block for 3 years and I am only too happy to welcome then.
How would you feel if your child needed such a home to live in?
I am sure you would have been happier if some druggies or lowlife hang out would have moved in there.
What a shame
To Sara,
May G-d bless these young men and their families. Watch what you say, children with challenges can be born (or happen) to any family.
Maybe you should move to a different street.
Mordechai Roth
To all,
I’m looking forward to a very exciting future working with these fine young lubavitcher men.
They are all great people to be with and its a pleasure that I will be spending most of my time helping them become independant, mature chassidishe men in our community.
Thank you to all the staff that have helped me make this home into what it is now. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all better and representing hasc in our community.
Thank you all so much!!!

Up until now, I always wondered what happens to the Developmentally Disabled in Lubavitch — you see the children, and then (for the most part), above a certain age, you don’t see them anymore.
Also, the group home is very lucky to have such mentschen (among them, Reb’ Mordechai and Reb’ Shabtai) working with them!
We are lucky to have this home (and the group home for ladies, too) in our community — I live in this same part of Crown Heights, too.
May it be mit mazel!

i wouold love to get involved, maybe volunteer. does anyone know who to contact>

way to go, this is totally great! long overdue!
Attention Sara:
Sara, lots of us know who you are. You’ve made your point numerous times on public forums. You know exactly what I mean.
You live in the building next to the Shuk and they live across the street. How on earth will they affect you in any way?! They are not rowdy, unkempt, destructible teenagers who are given a house and let loose. In fact, they are well taken care of and have 24 hr supervision. They are better behaved than most teenagers their age.
How dare you be so disgusting and insensitive?!
Since your nearing grandchildren stage, I’d like to give you a Bracha that you NEVER experience (and your children never experience) that which these young boys parents have.
Why are you always such a misery?
You have a real knack for spoiling things. Congratulations. You did it again!
dear webby
dear webby,
please remove sara’s scathing comment. not only is it telling of her selfish and horrible charachter but it also causes others to sin (even me) by weaving anger/hate and calling her names.
thank you,
a nicer sara
can we help Sara ?!
Shame
Unfortunately she is not by herself. Having a handicapped brother myself, I see that there are still many people out there who are really disturbed by them. A few say it in words but looks are enough and hurt just the same. However every problem has its solution. Problem here is “ignorance”. Solution? Education! Once people get over their fears and get to know those beautiful individuals (through family, friends, work or the B“H many organizations) their approach makes a fast 180 degree turn.
So will it help to bash ”Sara? Or shall we try educating her?
She is not mean or sick; she is just very, very ignorant. Hashem sends the cure… HASC!!! And right across the street! Now she will be properly educated, and soon she too will make a 180 degree turn. She is not the first and will definitely not be the last.
Every story has a good ending. It only needs a positive approach. By both parties.

I want to wish everyone good luck in the new home.Would it be possible for my son Yuda to visit at times? He knows most of the young men and he would enjoy spending some time with them. Mr. Roth, may Hashem bless you with lots of luck, patience and love. What an incredible journey you are embarking on!!!
disgusted
Sara- you just never learn when to keep your big mouth shut, do you? You are truly a rotten person.
Mordechai Roth
I would personally like to invite Sara to speak with me personally if she wishes and meet what wonderful guys live here. By just being around these guys for just a few minutes will change anyones opinion.
All the best and have a great week to all.

Well done Mordechai, all those long hours really paid off. You should be very proud. Congratulations

Sara: Your fears are unfounded. Well run group residences such as the HASC homes have proven to be great neighbors in all neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn. These homes are well maintained, staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week and the agencies has been responsive to the few neighbors complaints that have been received. OMRDD and your local Community Board provide oversight. With another neighbor you don’t have the security of a 24 hour a day presence nor anyone providing oversight.
I am not employed by or affiliated with any such agency, just a Brooklyn resident.
shocked by sara-s comment
Sara just make sure you never live on my nieces street.
Keep far far away from her PLEASE
sicko!
R- Doniel
Mordechai Roth,
I worked for HASC before I had to go off to college. It was truly a mitzvah and a blessing. I worked with 2 young men in Crown Heights, one of whom is seen in the baove picture (Greenwald, I believe).
Sib of a special kid
People, you’re doing to others what you don’t want done to yourself. Someone said something hurtful and you’re just continuing it.
Personally, I feel a lot better seeing all the “special” supporters. Means a lot to me.
To the sib of the handicapped brother, your comment warms me. I too am a sib of a special kid. So, from one to another-salute!
