CROWN HEIGHTS UNITES!

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The wind and cool weather didn’t stop thousands of Crown Heights residents from joining the First Annual NY Friendship Walk on Sunday. Organizers and participants alike have labeled the event a major success.

The walk started at the Jewish Children’s Museum proceeding down Kingston Ave to Wingate University where 4 blocks of rides, entertainment and food awaited the walkers. Hundreds Friendship Circle volunteers were on hand helping run the event, which lasted the entire day.

The VIP guest speakers included State Senetor Eric Adams, City Council Rep. Laticia James, Exectutive Director of Tzivos Hashem Rabbi Y. Benjaminson, Brooklyn Boro President Marty Markowitz, Chabad comic Mendy Pellin and Director of Friendship Circle Rabbi Levi Eckhaus. There was also a moving speach by a Friendship Circle child Yehuda Reichman.

There were also breath-taking performances by the African Acrobatic Team as well as a petting zoo.

“It was beautiful to see the entire community coming together in unity,” said David Weinbaum, who helped organize the event. “In a year of Hakel, this is what will bring Moshiach!”

    The Friendship Circle Walk today was beautiful. I must say that for such an amazing cause in such a large community, it was really shameful how FEW people actually came for the walk. The rides are great and fun, but the walk was to show support and raise money for the Friendship Circle. So high five for all those that made it, and shame on all of you who couldn’t show up for a cause worth walking a short distance for!!

    i dont think you should put down those who didnt show for the walk. it was not clear to many people that anyone can walk. many people thought that you had to be a member of the friendship circle in order to join the walk. Maybe next time it will be more clear. nevertheless, it was a beautiful event and the turn out at the rides was unbelievable. kol hakovod to levi and chayle for all they do for the community. Levi and Chayle, you are incredible. May Hashem bentch you with much nachas and everything else.
