Det. Timoshenko & Yan Awarded Police Officer of the Year

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Earlier today, Thursday, Police Brass, Officers and community activists gathered in Brooklyn for a special award ceremony honoring fallen hero, Detective Russel Timoshenko and his partner Detective Herman Yan for their exemplary service in the line of duty.

Russel and his partner Herman came under gun fire in Crown Heights while they were performing a car stop and both were injured, later Russel succumbed to his injuries.

The award is in honor of Assistant Chief Patrick D. Brennan, the only other officer to receive this award in the 71st Precinct is Sergeant Robert Troise.

Speaking in memory of Russel was Inspector Frank Vega who was the commanding officer of the 71st Precinct at the time, also speaking was Assistant Chief Joseph Fox, commanding officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South and the Commissioner of Police Hon. Raymond Kelly.

In show of support members of Shomrim in Crown Heights, Boro Park, Williamsburg and Flatbush as well as members of the Jewish Community Council and Hatzalah.
