Hundreds Attend Shiur on Tznius

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Last night, Wednesday, Ches Sivan, Hundreds of Crown Heights men crowded into Colel Menachem to hear a practical shiur on the husband and father’s role in the tznius of his household.

Rabbi Gluckowsky kept the crowd for over two hours with stories of the Rebbeim, Halachic backround, and anecdotes in his experience as a Rov in Eretz Yisroel. IYH a recording will be posted on YagdilTorah.org in the near future.

B”h it’s about time, after all this is the biggest problem that faces us

It was about time…I guess someone had to do the job that seminaries and girls high schools were supposed to do.
YaSHen Koyach! May these efforts bring back the real bas chabad looks!

  • That-s life

The people that care enough to go are usually the ones that are already careful about the problem. Often the people who need it most don’t even realize that they need it.

i missed the class last night, because i was out of town that night.
is there anyone in kollel or anywhere else that has a recording of that shiur

Those that were there already know the laws of Tznius – theres no elbows or knees showing in the pictures

  • me

    Interesting.
I just told my daughter-in-law that the community certainly commends her on dressing modestly.
She wears a dress many inches below her knee and her dresses are wide.
Many ladies wear tight-fitting and fairly short dresses and skirts.
Strange. They might send their husbands to shiurim and get the schus for their limud.
The shiur they’re in might speak about fighting the yetzer HaRa. When a man, on the street, (Especially in the hot summer) sees one (Or more) of these ladies dressed with tight and short skirts this stimulates their yetzer HaRa and puts them in conflict. A form of torture!
The ladies wearing these untznius garments might be the same ladies that send their husbands to a shiur!
Dressing like this also tortures their brothers–they’re fellow Jews!
Yes, I know, they want to be ‘In Style.” But at what price?
    This is Ahavas Yisroel?
Better to run after Yaacov than Esav!

    To clarify a few points:
This was a shiur for (married) men about their roles in encouraging the Tznius of their wives and daughters, and how to go about it without getting into issues of control etc.
He also stressed many other vital issues such as yichud in circumstances when people don’t realize it such as choson and kallah going on hikes, issues in the workplace and general mingling of couples at meals, parties etc.
As someone who counsels couples himself, he told of the many stories of frum wives calling him and crying about what they have found their husbands up to on the internet. He said how this is ruining families all over, and no-one is immune to this problem.
Make sure to look for he audio on yagdiltorah.org
