The more than 30 diverse officials denounced the crimes, including an attack on a black man last month and a recent attack on a Jewish teen. Officials said the NYPD arrested two people Thursday in connection to the latest attack.
Borough President Marty Markowitz said it is the parents who need to get more involved and set a better example for their children.
“The kids act out what you say and do in your home, and you have a responsibility to disciple your children,” said Markowitz.

just wondering
What were the kids there for?
Shalom
I personally believe it would be terrible if the CITY of 1 person/org puts up and has control of ALL of the cameras. It gives WAY TO MUCH POWER (over serious privacy issues – not crimes!) to the police or individual.
But I believe that rather funding should be made available for individual home owners to install the cameras on THEIR private property, and they are the only ones that have access to that particular camera. In the event of a crime Chas Vesholom they can provide access to the footage of the relevant time!
Obviously there should be an org that will determine exactly where the cameras are needed and how many on each block, spaces etc. but ultimately they should be controlled be local, individual land owners.
This will avoid COUNTLESS uncomfortable situations (and even blackmail!!! Just imagine someone that doesn’t like you has access to all the cameras… can he track you and therefore be able to disseminate ‘dirt’ on you??? LETS BE VERY CEARFULL)
I think that camera’s are VERY important but this needs to be not without hast, and well thought out – for the LONG TERM…

Let me just say these are great
photos and whoever took these
photos has a great eye, I take

Good Job, And I hope that
the meeting will change something.

CR

CHT
“just wondering”, is not this children museum
politics.....
what a waste of time. I took the time to go – just to hear a bunch of politicians patting themselves on the back, and telling us that we need to stop crime. Ummmm….. why preach to the choir? Get out on the streets and talk to the 14 year old drop outs. Maybe then we’ll actually get somewhere.
tzadik
comic relief…
agree!
very well said mr. brough president!!!!
heehee
yoiles and shvartzas kinderlach – you don’t see that every day. gotta say the yoilies are cuter!
just kidding
“What were the kids there for?”
A very good question! What in the world could possibly be the reason for children being at the Jewish Children’s Museum? Must be some sinister political motives endangering the welfare of minors!
alow me
re to just wondering…. why do you think kids are at a children’s Museum hmmmmmm..dont think to hard
NOT FOOLED
I WAS THERE AND LEFT AFTER A VERY SHORT TIME WHEN I REALIZED WHAT A FARCE THIS WHOLE THING IS. SO THEY CLAIMED THEY CAUGHT TWO UNDERAGED PUNKS THAT SUPPOSEDLY BEAT THE SHERMAN BOY AND I FELT LIKE YELLING OUT, HOW MANY MINUTES OR HOURS WILL THEY BE HELD FOR BEFORE THEY ARE LET LOOSE ONCE AGAIN. THIS WAS ONLY TO SHUT US UP AND NOT TO SEE JUSTICE SERVED. AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHIN HOURS OF THIS COMEDY SHOW ALL THE STREETS OF CROWN HEIGHTS WERE ONCE AGAIN CLEANSED OF ALL THE POLICE PROTECTION WE WERE GETTING UNTIL NOW SINCE THE PUBLICITY OF THE DEMONSTRATION OF LAST FRIDAY. I SAY WE OUGHT TO ORGANIZE AS MANY DEMONSTRATIONS (YES, PEACEFUL ONES) IN FRONT OF HYNES’ OFFICE WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE FROM CROWN HEIGHTS, WILLLIAMSBURG, BORO PARK AND POSSIBLY FLATBUSH AND MAKE SURE TO GET AS MUCH MEDIA PUBLICITY AS POSSIBLE.
ON ANOTHER LEVEL, ANY COMMUNAL ORGANIZATION THAT HAS NO PROBLEM BEING A MOSUR TO POLICE ON ANOTHER YID SHOULD BE OSTRACIZED FROM HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH COMMUNAL WORK.
THIS TOO SHOULD HELP THE ACHDUS AND BROADER SCALE OF CALM TO OUR SHCHUNAH.
your nephews and neice
hey uncle sholom, you look so funny during your interview.
Moshee
Interesting how Mrs. Halberstam is as Tznius as the non-Jewish politician, or maybe even less…..
ah shande.
museum tour guide
they were regular school groups coming to visit the museum. the conference just happened to be there at the same time as their appointment with their tour guides.
Shmuel
Who was the genius who had Sperlin speak? How do you crop him out of every photo op?
BigBen
Does the sprinkler system work in the Museum? There was so much hot air in one place it’s a wonder it did not go on.
Stop the bs talk and let’s see some action. (a)Get rid of Vega (b)Install more cameras (c) Catch and prosecute the perps (d) Support the Shomrim patrols.
Jusy a point...
Now, when DA Hynes proceeds with charging the Shmira memebrs who beat a community teen, we can’t – and shouldn’t – complain that he is only after us…
Wondering
The museum continued to host children during the press conference. Many groups were there at the time.
