CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly visited The Schluchim Center Monday night to talk with local Jewish leaders about the recent rise in racial attacks.

People who met with Commissioner Kelly say the message they wanted to get across is that the incidents aren’t a Jewish issue or a black issue, but a problem facing the entire community.

“We are happy he came but we’re still concerned the police department isn’t realizing the severity of the situation,” says Rabbi Yosef Jacobson.

Commissioner Kelly listened to concerns and noted that crime was lower now than it was in the 1990s.

Rabbi Jacobson says the most recent attack occurred Saturday night when members of his congregation were attacked while walking home from a Sabbath meal. Additional incidents involved a Jewish teen allegedly being beaten and attacked on Friday and a young black teen allegedly attacked by a group of Jewish men last month.

Do you notice how the media always plays these things down?

Whenever they mention the attack on the “Jewish teen” they conveinently forget to mention he was left unconcious on the pavement to die– they just say he was robbed..

  • Patrols???

If I stand correct Mr Kelley is 66 Years old now. I think it is time for him to retire and play golf! According to wikipedia he was born Sept. 1941. At the meeting Rabbi Jacobson expressed the pain of the community. I think that when someone is in pain he is entitled to respectfully speak his feelings. I was at the meeting and all Kelley did was discount what the Rabbi said. Kelley ignored the community in ’91 and till Monday night did the same. AND FOR HOW LONG WILL THE POLICE PATROLS LAST???

I say tell the truth! This is a Jews Blacks issue all of the attacks are by blacks against Jews. These are hate crimes directed against Jews by blacks. The lone case of some Jews attacking a black male last month happened only because Jews know they cannot get a fair shake from this justice system. The fact that hynes went against these Jews with such vehemence only emboldens the black thugs to increase their attacks against the Jews. We say to the police “shame on you!” Not one single arrest has been made over the years and not one single case has been solved by the police. Is it any wonder that violence of black against Jews is on the increase. Shame on you MR. Hynes and Shame on you Mayor Bloomberg. Where is Giuliani when we need him?

what throwing rocks at a bus was not racially motivated??? i guess they were just trying to get the attention of those on the bus.

    To 123…

    Oh please they were kids…
Kids that were brought up terribly
but still kids who have no idea
    how to hate.

They see an easy target and go for it…
I made trouble too when I was a kid
    like throwing snowballs at cars
    from the train stations.

But yeah throwing stones at kids
    is way more dangerous…

I keep hearing the police is doing
    something wrong because they let
these kids go… WELL GUESS WHAT
    it’s not the individual officers
who decide whether to keep the kids
    or to send em home.

If you want kids to be prosecuted
like adults your gonna have to change
    a lot of laws.
