Shomrim Releases Community Alert Over WhatsApp Scam

We’ve received multiple reports of a scammer infiltrating local WhatsApp groups. The scam works like this:

1️⃣ They message you pretending to be a group admin or someone you know and ask for your WhatsApp verification code .
2️⃣ If you give it, they take over your WhatsApp account.
3️⃣ They then message all your contacts asking for money or personal details — and people have been falling for it.

Protect yourself:

❌ NEVER share your WhatsApp code with anyone — not even friends or family.

📞 If someone asks for money, always call them directly to confirm — especially if you feel this request is out of place.

🔒 Enable WhatsApp two-step verification in your settings to make your account much harder to hack.

Stay alert. Share this message so others don’t get caught.
