Man Arrested In Crown Heights After Grabbing A Woman’s Shaitel On the Street

A man was arrested and sent for mental treatment after he approached a Jewish woman pushing her child in a stroller on the street, and grabbed her Shaitel.

Crown Heights Shomrim received multiple calls from witnesses regarding the man around 9:18am and quickly responded to the area.

According to reports, the man was found in the area of Eastern Parkway, Troy to Schenectady, and was quickly placed under arrest by the police. A knife was found on him as per the police.

Prior to the arrest, another altercation took place between the mentally ill man and Jewish residents. A Jewish man was punched, mace was allegedly discharged, and multiple people were injured.

Crown Heights Shomrim was able to collect video footage of the initial incident and presented it to the police. The incident remains under investigation and he may be charged as a Hate Crime.
