Arrest Made In Mezuzah Vandalism in Crown Heights
by CrownHeights.info
A hate-filled vandal who ripped two Mezuzos off of doorposts of a Crown Heights building has been arrested, according to Crown Heights Shomrim, less than a week after the act.
“This past Tuesday, Shomrim received a report about an individual hired to clean in a local building who, upon leaving, tore two mezuzahs from the door—taking one with him,” Crown Heights Shomrim said Motzei Shabbos. “Swift action was taken, and before Shabbos, the Hate Crimes Task Force successfully made an arrest. A heartfelt thank you to the leadership team of @NYPD71Pct and the Hate Crimes Task Force for their dedication and swift response. #CHSafe”
As previously reported on CrownHeights.info, Rabbi Yaacov Behrman of the Jewish Future Alliance wrote on X that, “Another day, more hate in Brooklyn. Yesterday, a contracted worker for a tenant, performing tasks in a building in the heart of Crown Heights, allegedly tore off two mezuzahs as he was leaving—stealing one and leaving the other on the floor.”
The incident was originally reported to Crown Heights Shomrim, who directed the incident to the NYPD.
Check Your Mezuzahs
While obviously not his intention, maybe HaShem allowed this to happen because the Mezuzahs had kashrus issues.
