Another act of hate hit Crown Heights this week when a contract worker decided to vandalize a Jewish building and tear off Mezuzos from the building’s doorposts.

“Another day, more hate in Brooklyn,” Rabbi Yaacov Behrman of the Jewish Future Alliance wrote on X. “Yesterday, a contracted worker for a tenant, performing tasks in a building in the heart of Crown Heights, allegedly tore off two mezuzahs as he was leaving—stealing one and leaving the other on the floor.”

The incident was originally reported to Crown Heights Shomrim, who directed the incident to the NYPD.

According to Behrman, a police report was filed and the incident being investigated as a hate crime.

“Thank you to @NYPD71Pct and @ShomrimCH,” Behrman wrote. “They are allegedly associated with a company called NYC Steamers. You should contact them if you want your mezuzahs removed. You can also check out their website https://nycsteamers.us and compare it to the video of them removing the mezuzah to decide for yourself.”

This incident comes following the speedy arrest of a female who harassed and assaulted a Jewish woman on the #3 train as she spewed anti-Semitic hate.
