An arrest has been made by the Miami Beach Police Tuesday in the investigation into a bomb threat letter left at the Lubavitch Educational Center and Chabad House in the South Beach section of Miami Beach.

Police said that 53-year-old Orpheus Korshak had been arrested after surveillance video showed him at the shul dropping off an envelope. An officer was able to identify him from the video as he had previously been arrested.

As previously reported by JewishMiami.info, the Miami Beach building of the Lubavitch Educational Center was evacuated Friday night after an envelope with a bomb threat was found in front of the building.

Police announced the closure of the street and evacuated the building around 7:40pm Friday night, telling WSVN that a rabbi flagged down an officer after finding the letter indicating a bomb threat and the words “safe house” on the other side.

The school building also hosts the Beit Chabad of South Beach and is used as a Shul over Shabbos.

The threat was taken seriously by Miami Beach Police who used K-9s to sweep the building before declaring it safe and allowing the community members to re-enter the building.
