Shabbos Stabber Charged With Hate Crime

Charges were filed Sunday against Vincent Sumpter, a resident of East New York, including attempted murder as a hate crime in the stabbing of a bochur on Kingston Ave over shabbos.

As previously reported on CrownHeights.info, Yechiel Michael Dabrowskin, a bochur who came to Crown Heights to learn in 770, had just left an event at Mendy’s on Kingston Ave near Eastern Parkway with friends when the incident took place around 2:00am. The perpetrator, a Black male in his early 20s, shouted “Free Palestine” and, after an exchange of words with the victim, allegedly asked, “Do you want to die?” before stabbing him.

Yechiel was transported to Maimonides Medical Center by Hatzalah and is expected to make a full recovery.
