Man Who Assaulted Jewish Woman Arrested In Smooth Shomrim Operation

A man who assaulted a Lubavitch woman and broke multiple car windows was arrested Motzei Shabbos in a smooth Shomrim operation noted for its efficiency.

According to reports, Crown Heights Shomrim recieved more than 10 emergency calls around 1:00am Motzei Shabbos and scrambled a dozen volunteers with reports that a man had grabbed a Jewish woman and threatened her with an ax.

Two Jewish women had been walking on a Crown Heights street when they were approached by the deranged man swinging what appeared to be an ax, according to witnesses. The Jewish woman attempted to go around the man but he grabbed one of them instead, yelling at her and lifting the weapon over her head. Thankfully a witness began yelling and scared the man into letting go of the Jewish woman.

Without a human to threaten, the man then went on a rampage, smashing car and school bus windows as he made his way along the street.

Shomrim volunteers were on scene in moments, tracking him down and flagging a passing NYPD vehicle. Faced by the police, the man dropped his weapon and surrendered to the officers.

The Shomrim call, less than ten minutes from beginning to end, involved nearly a dozen Shomrim volunteers and ended without anyone being injured and the perpetrator arrested.

On their social media, Crown Heights Shomrim wrote “At approx 1 AM, Shomrim received multiple calls for a subject walking around with a weapon, possibly an axe, chasing people and smashing multiple car and bus windows. Great collaboration with officers from @NYPD71PCT results in one UNDER arrest with a metal pipe. #CHSafe.”
