Update: CrownHeights.info has been made aware of reports indicating that another organization other than Crown Heights Shomrim was involved in the apprehension of the serial burglar. These reports are mistaken.

A serial burglar being sought in Crown Heights for nearly daily burglaries in the community was finally caught and arrested Thursday thanks to a tip made to Crown Heights Shomrim.
The burglar, who had been plaguing the neighborhood for months, had attempted to get into an apartment in Crown Heights but was unsuccessful. A neighbor, who had an external surveillance camera, was able to send the video to Crown Heights Shomrim in less than 30 minutes, providing Shomrim with a clear description of what the burglar was wearing.
Multiple Shomrim volunteers began combing the streets of Crown Heights while a call was also put through to the detectives of the 71st Precinct who had been assigned to the case. They too decided to join the search.
As the detective squad left the Precinct at the corner of Empire Blvd and New York Ave, they were happy to discover that the burglar was right there, waiting at the bus stop directly across from the police station.
With multiple police reports on hand and surveillance footage from 35 minutes before, the detectives were able to make the arrest, perhaps one of the easiest ones they have ever had to make.
“Thanks to great collaboration between Shomrim volunteers, @NYPD71PCT community affairs, and the Detective squad, this serial burglar has been arrested,” Crown Heights Shomrim wrote on Social Media site X. The post included a wanted poster from the organization emblazoned with the word “Apprehended”, and was reposted by the Commanding Officer of the 71st Precinct Deputy Inspector Thomas Smith.
Likely released
He is likely released by now with the no bail laws
He is dangerous
My young daughter, a child, was home alone (in same building as this surveillance footage), and she was standing by the front door frantically saying on the phone that someone is trying to get in. When he heard her, he backed away for a few seconds and then resumed trying to gain entry. He is not only a thief seeking money, I believe he sought the opportunity to harm a child very Dangerous person
Nah
I doubt it. What are the chances of him hearing your daughter through the door. And how do you that he was backing up to regain his strength. And why exactly is your daughter, a child, doing alone in a building?
Worried
