Second Arrest Made in Crown Heights Crime Spree

by CrownHeights.info

A tip to the Crown Heights Shomrim Hotline led to a second arrest today in a crime spree that took place in Crown Heights last Sunday.

The vigilant resident had seen a flyer published by Crown Heights Shomrim last week asking about the whereabouts of one of two perpetrators wanted in a crime spree that targeted Jewish children on the streets of Crown Heights last Sunday. Matching the image to a teenager loitering in Rutland Park, the resident called the tip into the Crown Heights Shomrim Hotline, letting them know of the perpetrators whereabouts.

The NYPD had previously made one arrest in the case, but the second perpetrator had fled after spotting the police and had gotten away.

Armed with the accurate tip, the volunteers of Crown Heights Shomrim arrived at the park this afternoon, keeping out of sight as they watched the perpetrator and waited for the police to arrive.

Unaware that he was being watched, the perpetrator barely moved as two NYPD officers arrived and detained him, ultimately placing him under arrest for Robbery in the crime spree.
