INSANE: Road Rage Incident In Crown Heights Ends When Explosive Device Detonates

by CrownHeights.info

It’s an explosive story, and not only for the reasons you may think.

A road rage incident between a Dollar Van and a Verizon utility van ended in an explosive manner when the driver of the dollar van threw an explosive device into the front cab of the Verizon van. The explosion caused extensive damage to the cab.

According to preliminary reports, the Verizon utility van with two workers inside, got into a road rage incident with the driver of an unmarked dollar van in the area of President Street and Brooklyn Ave. The fight escalated and the driver of the dollar van threw an explosive device into the cab of the Verizon van.

Sensing the danger, the driver and passenger of the Verizon van quickly escaped the cab, and not a moment too soon. Moments later the device exploded, and the blast wave wrecked the inside of the cab and left the two workers with blast related injuries.

A Crown Heights Shomrim volunteer on patrol in the area heard the blast and rushed over, assisting as the Police and Fire Department arrived.

The damage caused by the blast was severe, completely deforming the dashboard of the vehicle and shredding the cab interior. The blast also reached the vehicle’s engine block, which caught on fire and was extinguished by the Fire Department.

The NYPD is investigating the incident and the two workers were transported by EMS to the hospital for their injuries.
