A runaway grill that detached from a moving vehicle ended Sunday night in an arrest as the driver was not licensed and had an open warrant.

Crown Heights Shomrim responded to Brooklyn Ave and Union Street Sunday night and found that a minivan driving with an attached mobile grill had hit a bump on Eastern Parkway, causing the grill to detach from the vehicle and crash into a parked car on Brooklyn Ave.

“A driver towing this smoker lost control and slammed into a parked car, causing lots of damage,” Crown Heights Shomrim wrote on their social media. “Our volunteers kept the scene calm until the police arrived and placed the driver under arrest for open warrants.”

The heavy grill, really a heavy metal drum on wheels, caused significant damage to the parked car as it slip beneath the parked car and caused damage to the rear of the vehicle.

The police responded, and after doing a preliminary investigation, arrested the driver of the minivan for driving without a license and having an outstanding warrant.
