by CrownHeights.info
A Lubavitcher walking in Crown Heights early Shabbos morning was slapped by a man in an unprovoked assault.
“On Shabbos Chazon at around 7:30 in the morning I was walking to Rayim Ahuvim Mikvah (Corner of Schenectady and Carrol),” the victim told CrownHeights.info. “I was walking on Schenectady between Eastern Parkway and Union and tall black man began approaching me. I slowly moved the side but the man came right up to me.”
To the Lubavitcher’s surprise, the man suddenly smacked him across the face, leaving him shocked as his assailant walked off.
“I was so scared that I kept on quickly walking away from him towards Union,” the victim said. “Suddenly I heard someone shouting so I turned around to see who it was.”
A sanitation worker, who was nearby, had witnessed the incident and asked from afar if the victim was ok.
“I motioned to him in the negative. He motioned to me to stay where I am and he ran towards eastern parkway and went in the direction of Utica Av, the direction the man went,” explained the victim. “He came back a few minutes later me that he was looking for cops that were in the area earlier but they weren’t there anymore. He told me that if I want he can go back and see where the guy went, so I told him yes.”
The garbage collector returned a few minutes later having been unable to locate the assailant.
“Shortly afterwards I went to the police outside of 770 and told them what happened. They filed a police report and they told me a sergeant will come to my house shortly,” the victim said. “About ten minutes later the sergeant arrived to ask me some more questions. They said they will investigate and when they find him they will arrest him.”
