A taser wielding man was arrested Friday night in Crown Heights after an alert Shormim volunteer witnessed him harass multiple Jewish people.

According to a person familiar with the incident, the Shomrim volunteer witnessed the male holding the taser and engaging it in the area of Kingston Ave and Montgomery Street, causing nearby pedestrians to step out of his way.

The Shomrim volunteer followed the man as other Shomrim volunteers and the police responded. The volunteers quickly began to tail him as he made his way to Nostrand Ave and Empire Blvd across from Chase Bank where he entered a Checks Cashing business and stood online.

The police arrived soon after and placed him under arrest having found the illegal taser on him.

“On Friday night as the streets were full of people returning from Shul, our vols were alerted to a male setting off a taser in the streets,” Crown Heights Shomrim wrote on Twitter. “We were able to locate him for responding @NYPD71Pct officers, and he was placed under arrest.”
