Railroad Pizza Held Up Last Monday Night, Threatened and Robbed
by CrownHeights.info
Two masked and gloved thugs entered Railroad Pizza in Crown Heights last Monday night, holding up the store owner and robbing him.
Crown Heights Shomrim received the call for help soon after the robbers left, and armed with the stores surveillance footage which they provided to the NYPD, they joined the officers in searching for the two masked suspects. Despite a clear description and direction of flight, the two thugs managed to evade the law.
The incident took place around midnight after the store owner had closed up the store and was preparing for Lag B’Omer, where he provided free pizza to many of those celebrating at the post parade fair. As he worked, the two thugs entered the store through an open sidewalk cellar grate, and claiming to have guns, held up the owner, forcing him to lay on the floor facedown as they cleared out his pockets and stole his phone and credit card.
After a harrowing seven minutes, the pair left the store, thankfully without injuring the owner, and made their way northbound on Kinston Ave towards Atlantic.
The volunteers of Shomrim began combing the area, and were successful in locating both the victim’s phone and EarPods which the robbers had discarded in a gutter a block away.
The incident remains under investigation by the NYPD, and no arrest have yet been reported.
Since the incident, Crown Heights Shomrim has been providing extra patrols in the area as well as other means to ensure heightened security.
