Shoplifter Steals Himself Into A Pair of Handcuffs After Being Caught At Empire Kosher

A clever thief stealing bars of soap from Empire Kosher Supermarket probably thought he was getting away clean Erev Shabbos, but ended up getting arrested.

Crown Heights Shomrim received a call from the staff of Empire Kosher Supermarket after 3:00pm Friday, reporting that a man had stolen some items and fled the store. The staff of the store went in pursuit, keeping the man at the corner of Empire Blvd and Brooklyn Ave until Shomrim and the police arrived.

The volunteers from Shomrim were there within moments, keeping the scene safe and calm until the officers of the 71st Precinct arrived. Once they did, they quickly placed the man under arrest and searched him.

Drug paraphernalia and a knife were discovered during the search, potentially taking a simple shoplifting arrest to a whole other level.
