Package Thief Busted, Tracked Down By Crown Heights Shomrim

A package thief on the prowl thought he got away with his crimes Wednesday, but it was not to be.

The security company of a local Crown Heights building witnessed two men as they entered the lobby of the building, went “shopping”, stashed their purchases in plastic carry bags, and left.

But as the thieves made his selections, the security company had dialed Crown Heights Shomrim, notifying them of the their location.

The responding volunteers quickly caught up with the duo and witnessed as they entered a building on the corner of Empire Blvd and Albany Ave. One pf the two escaped out the back door while the second, after dumping his loot, attempted to shake the following volunteers. He failed.

The police soon arrived and placed the thief under arrest, with video from the victim’s building sealing the deal.

In a social media message, Crown Heights Shomrim thanked the volunteers, police and Monitex Security in helping bring down the thief.

“One of Crownheights’s most prolific package thieves was arrested yet again today,” they wrote. “Thanks to great #collaboration by our volunteers and @NYPD71Pct along with #Monitex Security.”
